Ducati likely to wait on new chassis

Ducati is unlikely to debut its new MotoGP chassis at this weekend's Portuguese Grand Prix, despite testing the heavily-revised frame at Mugello this week. Neither Valentino Rossi nor Nicky Hayden have proved competitive in dry conditions this season, with Rossi's ninth place on the Spanish Grand Prix grid the team's best qualifying position so far and the Italian complaining of severe understeer from the Desmosedici GP11. Team manager Vito Guareschi believes that with only three days to go before the start of free practice at Estoril, time constraints will prevent an immediate change of chassis

War and Peace

Nico Brandt may have won the battle at Infineon Raceway, but Ryan Field won the war. Field took the overall IZOD IndyCar Series ? Road title with 651 points, on the strength of six wins and seven poles in seven starts. So strong were his performances in the first four weeks of the season, that he needn?t have bothered to participate in the final two online races of the season at Watkins Glen and Infineon. Field?s decision not to participate opened up the winner?s circle for some other sim racers to take victories, as nine drivers took the 10 official races held. Ken Leach was the only multiple winner on the week, tying for fourth in points for the week with 126. Brandt was the big winner on the week, [...]

Solberg: Make running order random

Former World Rally champion Petter Solberg has advocated drawing lots to solve the running order issue which is currently dividing opinion in the sport. For the first day of a WRC round, the drivers run in championship order and then competitive order for the following two days. The drivers are eager for the system to be changed on gravel events, where the car first on the road is forced to sweep the road clean of the loose stones

Alfalla Shines Under the Lights of Richmond

Ray Alfalla collected his second NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory of the season last night, holding-off Josh Parker over several late-race restarts at Richmond International Raceway. Alfalla led the field for most of the evening, with the JDR Graphics Chevy setting pace for a race high 146 of 200 laps. The online race was slowed by the yellow flag 19 times, nearly as many as the Martinsville race earlier this season, placing a premium on smart pit strategy and good short run calls. The night got underway with Brad Davies leading the field to the green flag with Alfalla to his outside. It only took Alfalla ten laps to grab the top spot, which he would only relinquish on pit road. As the night got progressed it became apparent [...]

Hakkinen: Vettel better after title

Retired double world champion Mika Hakkinen believes that Sebastian Vettel is driving with more confidence in 2011 now that he has a drivers' title under his belt. Nieminen Notches Another

Round Five of the iRacing.com World Championship Series Road Racing (iWCSRR) paid a visit to the twisty and dusty turns of the Infineon Raceway, where Jesse Nieminen jumped his way to the front of the pack to claim his third victory of the season. The My3id Team sim-racer started from the second row of the grid in fourth position, and by the time the first round of pit-stops arrived, Nieminen was up to third position, after capitalising on an error by Ilkka Haapala. This is when the Finn launched his Williams-Toyota FW31 into the lead, as a hair-raisingly fast entry to pit lane and subsequent high-speed service brought him out alongside erstwhile leader Luca Masier and ahead of Greger Huttu, who’d over-shot his pit box. ?Everyone pitted on the same [...]
