Gilham to continue at Donington

Tony Gilham has won his fight to continue in the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park this weekend. The Triple 8 Vauxhall driver was the most impressive of the series rookies last time out at Brands Hatch, but was in danger of ending his season early due to the withdrawal of a major sponsor late last week.

Alonso fired up by Sepang speed

Fernando Alonso says Ferrari has reason to feel more upbeat about its situation after producing some encouraging pace during the Malaysian Grand Prix. Although the Spaniard's chances of finishing on the podium were dashed after he damaged his front wing in a collision with Lewis Hamilton, Alonso had produced lap times during the race that were a match for everybody apart from Sebastian Vettel

Alonso admits tyre marbles a worry

Fernando Alonso has called on Pirelli to try and tweak its tyres to prevent the high levels of 'marbles' that were seen at last weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix. Formula 1 drivers had voiced some concern about marbles during winter testing, but Pirelli was not sure if the problem then was caused by the lower temperatures in Europe at the time. However, with the marbles showing up again in Malaysia, the company is set to work on trying to improve the situation - something Alonso believes will be vital for forthcoming races.

Alonso concedes Ferrari not fast enough

Fernando Alonso says he is aware that Ferrari "must" improve quickly if it is to fight for victory soon. The Spaniard finished in a distant fourth position in the season-opening race in Australia, and was nearly a second off the pace again in today's qualifying in Sepang. Alonso admitted there was no hiding from the fact that Ferrari's car is simply not quick enough at the moment
