Power and Wilson Join iRacing.com for IZOD IndyCar Series

At this weekend?s 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season-opening Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, check out the helmets worn by last year?s first and second-place finishers, Will Power and Justin Wilson.  Both are big fans of iRacing.com, the world?s most authentic driving game, and for 2011 each has revised his helmet design to prominently feature the well-known iRacing graphic. ?Justin and Will have been active members of the iRacing community for a long time now,? said Tony Gardner, president of iRacing.com.  ?From our early days they?ve both been strong advocates of iRacing, so it?s nice to be able to take this relationship to the next level.  We have a lot of IndyCar fans among our more than 25,000 members around the world and now they have an additional reason to [...]

Hirvonen in pre-Portugal scare

World Rally Championship leader Mikko Hirvonen has admitted he was lucky to escape a moment during his Rally of Portugal test - which could have cost Ford its third test car in as many events. Hirvonen smashed the right-rear wheel on his Fiesta RS WRC while preparing for the third round of the World Rally Championship, but he says it could have been much worse

Lotus says true pace not shown yet

Lotus is adamant that it did not show its true pace in free practice in Melbourne and will be more competitive over the rest of the weekend. The team appeared to have made little progress from its first season as Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli were five seconds off the pace in practice, and in their 2010 position ahead of the other 'new' teams but a second away from those ahead

Mixed Class, Mixed Bag

Featuring the Pontiac Solstice and SpecRacer Ford, the inRacingNews Challenge is a textbook example of mixed class online racing.  And when it comes to the class championships, the 2011 Season One iRNC is a textbook example of a mixed bag of results.  On the one hand, Gabriel Tobar seems poised to lock-up the SRF championship while, on the other hand, Pontiac Solstice points leader Chris Hughson appears to be feeling the heat. After last week’s visit to the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Tobar?s lead in the SRF championship has grown to 166 over the double-dipping Hughson even as Hughson?s lead on Nenad Matijevic in the Solstice title race dipped to 72 poipnts.   What’s more, Chris Wiggins is only nine points behind Matijevic in the battle for second, suggesting [...]

Liuzzi: Points possible for HRT

Vitantonio Liuzzi believes that it could be possible to score points on his debut for Hispania if the team can make its new car reliable ahead of Sunday's Australian Grand Prix. The HRT F111 was unveiled at the final Barcelona test earlier this month, but will not run for the first time until Friday's first free practice session in Melbourne. "There is always a chance," said Liuzzi when asked by AUTOSPORT whether he felt that he could score points if he makes the finish.
