Grosjean not feeling overlooked

Renault reserve Romain Grosjean says he is not concerned that the team did not consider him as a potential stand-in for the injured Robert Kubica. Although Grosjean and Bruno Senna were named as official reserves at the Renault launch last week, the team said that Senna would take priority if a vacancy arose - and has now made the more experienced Nick Heidfeld the favourite to take Kubica's place. But Grosjean said he did not feel he had been snubbed, as he had never expected to be back in Formula 1 before 2012 and was focused on GP2 Asia at present in any case.

Ostberg says he has speed in hand

Rally Sweden leader Mads Ostberg says he has more speed to come this afternoon as he bids for his first ever World Rally Championship victory. The Stobart Ford driver won two of this morning's four stages and has now built a 32.8-second advantage over factory Ford man Mikko Hirvonen. Ostberg says his speed is partly due to his preparation for the opening round of this year's WRC and partly due to his 10th position on the road.

Indy Lights frontrunner Pippa Mann has announced that she will make her IndyCar testing debut with Conquest Racing at Texas Motor Speedway on 28 February. The 27-year-old Briton will complete her mandatory rookie test during the session. While she does not have a deal in place with a team yet, she is aiming to at least enter the Indianapolis 500 and hopefully contest all the oval rounds of this year's IndyCar Series calendar.

Essa Takes Inaugural Rainbow Nation Double

Sunday evening saw the start of the inaugural iRacing South African Championship. Thanks to the help of Sean Siff from iRacing, an impressive turnout of over 20 sim racers made the grid for Round One at the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The league will feature a 10 round championship spanning between February and May. Two of these events will feature endurance style online races. The remaining eight races will feature two heats on a night. The first heat is a short sprint race with open qualifying, with a feature race starting later with the grid determined by a two lap closed qualifying session, and a compulsory pit stop. In an attempt to produce close, door to door racing, in addition to accommodating the newer iRacers in the group, the [...]

Time for 2011 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship

The time has come. The 2011 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship (NiSWC) is ready to kick off its second year on Tuesday and the quality of competition appears to be second to none. The new class of 20 drivers from the 2010 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS) is extremely deep with talent but let?s not forget about the top 30 sim racers from last year?s NiSWC, they are no slouches either. Highlighting the new 20 drivers are the top five from the NiPS; Richie Davidowitz, Brad Wright, Charles Cosper, Byron Daley and Jameson Spies. All five of these drivers showed time and time again they have what it takes to run at the front and even beat some NiSWC drivers in the Pro Series races. The talent doesn?t stop there [...]

Australian GP boss fears for event

Australian Grand Prix boss Ron Walker fears Bernie Ecclestone will see through his threat to remove the event from the calendar in the next few years following recent criticisms about the cost of the race. In the Draft with Elliott Sadler: Preparing for '11

With Daytona just around the corner, I'm glad to see the end of the offseason in sight. Around this time of year, I begin to get cabin fever and I'm ready to go racing -- especially this season as I move to the Nationwide Series to drive for Kevin Harvick Inc.
