HRT recruits Hollywood designer

HRT has called on one of Hollywood's leader design stars to help create a new corporate image for the team this year. Daniel Simon, famed for his futuristic car designs and who has most recently worked on the new sci-fi film TRON: Legacy, wants to give the outfit a totally fresh look as it enters its second season. "Being offered a blank canvas by the Hispania Racing and with it the opportunity to bring to life elements of 'Cosmic Motors', was something I just couldn't pass up," said Simon.

Williams not chasing cash injection

Williams chairman Adam Parr insists his team's idea of a flotation on the stock market is not because it wants to raise immediate funds for the company. Although Williams lost a number of sponsors at the end of last year, Parr said on Friday that outfit has been profitable in the last few years and is therefore not chasing an injection of cash. He confirmed the team already secured its full budget for 2011, partly thanks to a recent deal with Venezuelan oil company PDVSA which has come on the back of signing Pastor Maldonado.

Teams won?t allow wing rule to fail F1

Formula 1 teams and the FIA will not allow the new moveable rear wing to fail the sport this year - despite recent concerns about the impact it will have on racing. That is the view of McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh, who thinks that efforts by the teams over forthcoming tests, plus intelligent implementation of regulations by the sport's governing body, will ensure the wing will only be used if it is a boost for F1. Although there has been concern voiced in the last few weeks by various leading figures - including Red Bull Racing's Adrian Newey and Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali - that it could make racing too 'artificial', Whitmarsh is convinced there is no reason to be worried about it.
