Rupert Svendsen-Cook will return to British Formula 3 for a second season in 2011 after re-signing with leading team Carlin. The British racer stepped up from Formula BMW Europe last year and scored a reversed grid win and several podiums on his way to seventh in the championship. Piquet to race for Harvick in Trucks

Nelson Piquet Jr will race full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for former champion team Kevin Harvick Inc in 2011, the Brazilian announced on Monday. As AUTOSPORT predicted earlier today, Piquet will enter his first full season of racing next year since leaving Formula 1, pushing ahead with his stock car career in the United States after competing in three different series last year and achieving positive results.

Briscoe thrilled to retain Penske seat

Ryan Briscoe has described the extension of his deal with Penske as a "huge" boost, as a series of new sponsor announcements allowed the team to confirm that it would run its full three-car line-up throughout the 2011 season. There had briefly been doubt over whether Briscoe would be retained alongside Will Power and Helio Castroneves as the team hunted for new sponsorship. But Penske has recently revealed several new deals, including the arrival of IndyCar Series title sponsor IZOD as primary backer for Briscoe's car at several events, including the Indianapolis 500.

World champion Sebastian Vettel will be hoping for one more victory over his Formula 1 title rivals at tonight's AUTOSPORT Awards in London. Vettel is among the leading contenders in the International Racing Driver of the Year category, where he is sure to face opposition from season-long challengers Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.
